OMG, I just want to throw my arms around him and cry, "No, Frodo! Don't go!" He makes me want to take it for him, he's so brave and vulnerable and scared. Remember how, in the book, at that very moment all his homesickness came to the fore, and he thought to himself that all he wanted was to go home and live out his life in peace? And it's in the middle of THAT that he finds himself volunteering. Great Goddess, Tolkien really knew what he was doing. What a writer.
