We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.
He had a real talent for melding the acerbic with the elegant. So much of his writing still holds up today. In fact, his stuff about religion is even more timely now.
(I also loved his portrayal in Inherit the Wind because, well, Gene Kelly fangirl me!)
