Happily geeking out
For those of you in the L.A. area who are of an artistic bent, hie thee hence to Swain's over in Glendale. They're having their twice-yearly blowout sale!
For those of you who don't know, Swain's is one of the last big, high-quality art supply stores in this city, now that HP Daniels is no more (*sigh*). Top of the line stuff.
I was in line for the opening of the sale this morning, and spent money I really shouldn't have to buy some beautiful Itoya archival books, 11x14 and 8.5x11. So I've spent the morning ensconcing my entire collection of LOTR Oscar ads in these lovely containers. They now reside in four neatly organized books, most comfortable. *squee*
For the record, my collection contains:
FOTR:
51 single-page Variety ads (11x14)
10 double-page Variety ads
5 single-page Hollywood Reporter ads (8.5x11)
1 double-page HR ad
2T:
26 single-page Variety ads
8 single-page HR ads
1 double-page HR ads
ROTK: (so far)
23 single-page Variety ads
2 double-page Variety ads
13 single-page HR ads
1 double-page HR ad
At some point, I'll get really geeky and list exactly what each ad and image is, so you can all laugh at how obsessive I am. *snort* But you'd be amazed at how gorgeous these things are.
Hm, then again, maybe you wouldn't. ;)
Of course, when I got home I discovered that I need an 11x17 book to accomodate the double-page HR ads. So I gotta go back today and get that too. Might as well get another 11x14 book, as I have ads from other films I'd like to archive, like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Last Samurai and Finding Nemo. Collecting these things can become a real habit!
