New ficlet: Caress
Heehee! Thanks to
undone27 for the Cookie Monster Pic. In return, I've written this little ficlet for her.
Title: Caress
Rating: G
Pairing: Ah, that would be telling!
Disclaimer: This never happened, as far as I know, but I'd bet dollars to donuts Elijah wishes it had!
Caress
by Serai
Elijah closed his eyes and sighed as a warm hand patted his carefully combed hair. The stage lights flared bright behind his eyelids, but it was easy to ignore them. Who cared about lights, the movements of the crew, the mike above his head - who could care about any of it when he was really, truly here?
The hand slid down to stroke his cheek, and a giggle burst from his lips at the feel of it. He opened his eyes and met the intense gaze and open smile. That beloved face - and he could touch, too, reach out and squeeze a soft shoulder. Oh, thank you, he thought to whoever had brought him here.
" 'Lijah," came the rough whisper, and the hand patted him happily. " 'Lijah."
At the sound of that voice speaking his name, a little shiver coursed through Elijah's chest. Oh, he was so happy. He felt as if he could melt away right now, into a little bubbling river. How long had he wanted to be here? Practically forever, it seemed.
A dream come true.
"OK, lockdown!" the AD shouted. Ever the pro, Elijah straightened up, and his companion gestured with his usual excitement.
"You ready now?" he asked. Elijah nodded with a giddy grin.
"Roll tape!" the director called. "And, action!"
"Elijah want…a COOKIE?" the furry blue monster shouted.
The little boy laughed aloud. "Yes! Chocolate chip!" he sang out.
He was in heaven.

Oo! A squee!
I was just a bit too old for Sesame Street when it came out (and yes, I do remember when it first came out). I was more into The Electric Company. Rita Moreno in an outrageous Carmen Miranda hat, singing out dangling participles. Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader, laughing his smooth, lazy laugh as he introduced kids to just how damn cool it was to be able to read.
I swear, if I ever get the blessing of meeting Mr. F, the one thing I want to do is thank him for Easy Reader. Being one of those odd geeky kids who spent recess and lunch alone reading books, and being laughed at for it, he was one of things that made me stick to my guns.
Ha. You're just a bunch of jerks. Easy Reader says it's cool to read, so you all can just kiss my ass!
