For those of you who like the oddnesses of words:
In Spanish, the word for "gooseflesh" is
escalofrios
, which basically translates to
ladder chills
.

Think of what it feels like when gooseflesh hits your back. Doesn't it move up along your skin, as if climbing the ladder of your spine?

Spanish idioms tend to be very visceral, very physical. This is one of my favorites.
