It was heartbreaking, wasn't it? That single tear Ethan cried felt like acid when it dripped down his face. I love his defiance in the face of death. THE LAMB IS DEAD, I AM WOLF NOW. I don't know whether to believe that, or whether that tear was his true soul trying to claw its way back out. Which is the true Ethan now? Is this character even going to survive the story? He might not, you know. Logan could be planning for Ethan to die in some spectacular way, probably close to the end of the tale if that's where he's going. That curse doesn't look reversible, and I doubt even Vanessa's power could even arrest its effects, lovely dream of happiness notwithstanding (that was Lucifer tempting her, after all), so death is really the only way to deal with him. And it would be the classic end to Ethan, since the werewolf always gets taken down by that silver bullet. What can you do with a rabid dog but shoot him? That one glimpse of a murdered world with Ethan standing over it, trembling with lust to kill anything that moved pretty much clinched it, I think.
But as Miller used to say back when he was funny, That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
