Here's a little something for all of you
Wednesday, February 15th, 2006 04:32 pmFirst of all, thanks to
blackbird_song and
westmoon for the lovely roses. *hug*
Now, for the goodies. Quite some time ago, I bought a DVD from Australia called Perverse Destinty. Don't know why it's called that, really. It has four very good short films on it. (I do like short films very much, and it's such a pity that seeing them is so difficult, even the ones nominated for Oscars!)
Now, I've only just recently acquired the tools to do things like back up DVDs, rip, etc., and have been having great fun learning about all this. Having backed this disc up onto a Region 1 DVD, I found I could now rip the files on it.
So, as a present to my friends list, I hereby present....*drum roll*
That's right. It's the short film Elijah made when he was just eleven years old, in which he stars with Gary Sinise. It's a .avi file, about 170 mgs. Please comment below if you take it, and if anyone can mirror this, I would greatly appreciate it!
WARNING: This is not a feel-good tale; it is a tragic story. There is character death! (You listening to me, Goldie?) Although the death is violent only in the sense that one person kills another - there is no blood or beating or bullets or anything like that - still, I thought I'd better warn you. So don't say you didn't know!
Enjoy! (If you take my meaning.)

Date: Thursday, February 16th, 2006 01:05 am (UTC)Question. What is the best way to mirror it? I can't figure out how "You Send It" works, at this point. I hate to be obtuse. I have a web server and I can certainly put it up there and provide a link, but I would love to know how You Send It works, in terms of "mirroring".

Date: Thursday, February 16th, 2006 01:14 am (UTC)To mirror on YSI, you just go to their home page and fill out the send page. Then the file is uploaded to YSI, and it sends an email to you with the link to the file. Post the link and voila! It'll also list the link on the send page when uploading is complete. I usually just get the link that way, since you can't close the window until uploading is complete anyway.
If putting it on your server is easier, then whatever you like. Thanks! :)

Date: Thursday, February 16th, 2006 07:07 am (UTC)As for the mirroring, what do you prefer? I've never mirrored anything from a locked post before. Usually I'll drop a YouSendIt link in the comments and link here from my journal, so people can get their download 'at the source' so to speak. If you rather not have this shared around, I can still drop the YouSendIt link here when I'm done uploading. If you don't mind if it's spread around, I can put the link up in my journal, and credit you. Or I could make two mirrors; one for in my journal and one for here. Which do you prefer?
Thank you so much for doing this, it's very much appreciated!!
