Photobucket has decided, out of the blue, to hold all their users' photos for ransom. They're now demanding $400 a year for third-party hosting rights, i.e., the ability to post a link to a photo on their site and have the picture itself show up, not just a link. This for literally billions of photos. With no warning whatsoever. What is it with companies just shitting on users' heads like this out of nowhere?
So now I have to go through my accounts and make sure I have copies of everything so I can host the pics elsewhere. Christ, what a pain in the ass. I wonder if this is going to be business as usual from now on - offer a free service, get everyone hooked on it for years, then hit them with exorbitant fees without warning, in hopes they'll bite. Nice.

Okay, everyone, here's what I know:
The reason all this started happening is that the big email services - Microsoft and Yahoo, and maybe others - are blocking LJ emails because of the volume of emails they send. If you're using one of those two, you won't get any emails of any kind from LJ.
The only workaround at the moment is to switch to a Gmail account. LJ says they're working on getting the others to UNblock emails, but they aren't sure how long it'll take. In the meantime, switch to Gmail. You'll get your emails there.
Oh, and they'll be in the "Social" folder, not the main inbox. (Why the FUCK Gmail thinks the Inbox needs to have THREE separate areas, I don't know. I really hate that service ever since they started all that shit.)

Desktop - UNF, part 2

Remember this?
That picture served up a lot of inspiration. But in my thinking that it's time to shift over to Casey's point of view for a while, I went looking for another pic. After a false start of about a week with a picture that did pretty much the opposite of what I wanted - it stonewalled me, basically - my desktop now looks like this:
That is a picture of the Casey in my stories, three or four years after he leaves Herrington. I've been getting some interesting stuff from it. Like Zeke, there's more to Casey than I thought.
And also, it's just fucking yummy. >;)~
