Well, the deed is done!
Tuesday, November 2nd, 2004 07:29 amThis morning, I got to the polls a half-hour before opening, and luck was with me. I and my parents were the first ones in line. So I got to vote early and get to work more or less on time to boot.
So, that's it. I've done what I can. I worry that I could have done more. But as a citizen of this country, I've done the most important thing - I've participated in the process. It's not a right, it's not a privilege, it's a DUTY. The most important duty we have, and if we want our country to do right (whatever we believe right to be), we MUST take on that duty.
So, anyway. I'm off to work now. With a spring in my step, and hope in my heart. I'm a pessimist by nature, but when I marked that spot labeled "Kerry Edwards", I actually had tears in my eyes. I bowed my head and prayed over the ballot, asking the Goddess to warm the people's hearts and save our country. Those of you who know me might have an inkling of how unusual that behavior is for me. But I couldn't help it. This time, I had to.
And I hope you all get out to the polls and make your voices heard. Whether attention is paid or not, we'll have to see. But at least we'll be roaring.
Faith! Hope! Good will!
Let's WIN.
Love,
Serai
