Midnight Media Cafe - Texan Love Song

So I was watching yet another clip of yammering ninnies over at C&L, and I was suddenly minded of this song, from way back when I was a young'un:
Texan Love Song - Elton John
There was a group of girls at my high school that met to sing together, sometimes in the music room and sometimes on the grass of the quad. I hung with them several times; it's a cherished memory. There's nothing like singing in a group. We sang mostly the stuff on the radio, with a few other things like those groovy 70s Catholic songs like Day by Day and A Brand New Canticle.
Elton John was big on the list because his songs were so...singable. Pretty melodies with room to harmonize, fun lyrics with a surprising amount of interesting vocal action, i.e., Bernie Taupin (the lyricist of the duo) was very good at choosing words. This one was a favorite because it was funny as well. (I think only Low Rider, by War, was more fun to sing than this one.)
Anyway, enjoy this ditty from my heyday. The album is Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player, out in 1973, and the song is reportedly based on things the guys heard while on tour in the U.S. Goodness knows it's tame compared with some things I've heard. ;)
