Here's a doozy:

23% of people polled in the UK believe that Winston Churchill is a myth.

You read that right: Winston Churchill. A myth. As in "never existed". And that's not all, either. It gets even better.

What's that you say? Nobody could be that idiotic? Look, it makes my head hurt too much to explain. Just go read it.

I always wonder if the people taking those polls decide to mess with the poll-company's minds...

There's always a percentage that do...but 23%? 47%? 58%? Sounds unlikely. I think it just goes to show that humanity is falling apart in general.

Oh yeah. We're hardly the only batshit assholes in the world, no matter how many people would like to think we are.

It's when they start believing Winnie the Pooh was real that we all have to panic ;)

Now look at the figures. They polled 3000. The population of the UK is 60 million. Representative of the UK it is not.
Depends on how the question was framed.
'Do you think that everything you've heard about Winston Churchill was true? Yes/No?' People answer 'no' and the reporter or the survey interpret it as no they don't think what Winston did was true therefore must be made up and so he is a myth. Easily done.

For the record -every single child in Britain is taught about World War 2 and Churchill -its part of the National curriculum and has been since 1993.
Same goes for some of the other questions too. So only an example of poor journalism/survey taking.

I had to wonder about the phrasing of the questions too. The percentages - esp. for Churchill - seemed really high.

Mind you, people's capacity for ignorance seems to grow every year, so part of me was sadly not really surprised.
