His work is often not what most people think of when they think of Tolkien (tends to make his Gondorians look like ancient Romans), but this one of particularly beautiful.

I do wonder, though, why so many artists don't seem to understand what hobbit feet are supposed to look like. It's not as if Tolkien never described them!

I'm not sure how I feel about that picture -- in some ways they're just not my Frodo and Sam...and yet I find it very compelling...and it's very slashy...I'm not just saying that because Sam is holding Frodo -- I mean there's something about the artwork that screams "We are sleeping together" :-)

They're not my Frodo and Sam either, but I actually like that. It's too easy to get stuck in one particular image of them, especially with the films. (That's one thing that made me uneasy about the movies coming out - the idea of the characters getting frozen like that.) So I welcome different versions of them, as long as the artist is skilled.

I really like this drawing, and it's very close to how Tolkien described Frodo. He doesn't look like a young boy, and his hair is short, as described in the book. I also love the pensive look on his face.

Yep. He does fantasy and science fiction illustrations. His colors are very vivid, and his people are mostly very beautiful. And clean, even in the battle scenes.
