Wow. Beautiful speech. Beautiful. What a talent our Prez has for getting at the heart of things, and speaking rightly (as Valentine Michael would say).
And my goodness, I didn't expect him to tackle the abortion issue head on like that. I figured he'd discreetly avoid the whole thing, given the shitstorm that's been going down on that. But he didn't. He stepped up to the plate and made a reasoned, impassioned argument for understanding and partnership that will result in real change for the better, not divisive shitheadedness.
I'm mightily impressed, once again. Gotta say, everything else tends to pale in comparison to the fact that the Prez is NOT an idiot, NOT a joke, NOT an embarrassment. That he might actually have a chance to restore respect to the image of the Presidency, and put an end to our tendency to wince at the prospect of a presidential opinion. That's worth the world to me, far more than any pet issue, because our image around the world rests in great part on the image of our leader. We really need someone like that, and we've got him.
Now let's see if we can keep him.
