Ahahaha these are totally of the win!

I am so in love with the rebooted ST I can't even tell you. And nothing since TOS has ever really clicked for me up until now. Here's hoping there are many, many voyages ahead with this fine new crew.

Is it not the most incredible thing ever? Star Trek was my first fandom; grew up with these characters. And I am SO HOT for this reboot. Hell yes, I'm sure we're gonna get a trilogy at least. At least we BETTER.

It's nice to get the writing juices flowing again. Yay. I thought I was all written out.

Not my first fandom - I must admit to Man From U.N.C.L.E. first, but pretty damn close.

There absolutely MUST be at least a second as Kirk/hate/Spock turns into the K/S we so know and love. *waits impatiently* *taps fingers*

I read a rather disturbing account the other day that talked about the ownership of the franchise. Paramount no longer own Star Trek; now it's CBS that has it. This film was the last one Paramount would make, and they got it done just in time before the rights lapsed. The article implied that the idea was to start a new TV series, using this film as the launching pad. I'm not sure whether I should be upset about that or not. I've not been very pleased by any of the series that came about after TOS. (TNG had some good episodes, but that's all.) I'd rather have a trilogy of films, frankly, unless the TV show was REALLY good.

Ack. Not liking that news at all. And I should think, based on how well the movie is doing, that a TV series would be squandering a precious asset.

I've no patience for the trials and tribulations of a TV series these days. *flails cane* TNG lost me quite early on.

Major budget flics, kbthnx.

On the one hand, I agree because yo. But on the other hand, I think the big-budget movie world drew Star Trek away from the kind of cerebral, layered stories they tried to tell way back when it was a weekly series. Science fiction films these days are BIG HUGE EVENTS and so have to have a big-ass bunch of explosions and such. But ST was originally supposed to be character-driven, rather than effects-driven. A return to TV, with the retooling of the show's look and sensibility to get it back to the original (NON-boring, NON-everybody-get-along-snorefest that was TNG), perhaps we'll see those kinds of stories again.

How about some real aliens, instead of the forehead aliens we got WAY TOO MUCH of. I want me a Horta!
