Shift

Day after day, he sat at the window, watching the wind move through the wildflowers high on Mount Mindolluin. Sam felt tempted to fret, but the silence that surrounded Frodo seemed not unwelcome. When he finally asked, Frodo nodded.
"It's restful just to sit here. Please don't worry."
True enough, for his eyes shone clear and quiet. Sam took the injured hand with care. "You're not in pain?"
Frodo smiled. "Not at all." The grip on his wrist tightened, and Frodo's eyes went wide.
"Ah, then," Sam murmured, his tone changing along with his gaze.
It was a long night.
Just a drabble. I wanted to write something more, but the Muse was out partying, it seems.
Plus, I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind today, and that kinda blew out all my mental circuits. So I'm afraid I'm not very creative right now.
*sigh* Maybe I'll manage some kind of review of the movie in a day or two.

By the by, I've been meaning to ask you about that lovely big illo on your RoP title page. Is there a map or something that can tell me just who is who in that pic? So many great faces, but I don't know how to cast them!

The RoP title page now also has the 'key' to who is who--scroll down a bit and you'll find it in the text just above the navigational buttons.
(Glad the lovely leaning pic got to you okay--it's scrumptious, isn't it? Not sure exactly where or why it grabs me, but it does. Hard.)
