Heh. He's not stopped the chivvying even after the speech. He's gladhanding the guys in Congress, and you can hear him, "Let's get the work done! This is what we've got to do!" Dude's got enough energy for ten Presidents, GODDAMN.

He is fantastic. I just posted a vid of Barney Frank on the Rachel Maddow Show, and he brings up the fact that we really ought to thank the Republicans, because they forced the President to articulate the very basics of democracy and the liberal philosophy: that it's not about big government or anything like that, but simply about caring for each other and doing what's RIGHT, not what will bring in the money.

And that asswipe Wilson yelling insults? Is really pissing people off. Even Joe Scarborough called him out for it. (I wish I could have heard Rahm Emanuel on the phone after the speech. He must have been yelling his head off. FUN!!)

The one thing I've not understood about opposition to the public health option is this -if its such a great thing to be an american living the dream in his or her own way etc (the chant of much of the opposition) why the unseemly enthusiasm for a health system that basically ensures Americans die or go bankrupt before they even get the chance? Don't these people like their fellow americans?

I've noticed in dailykos, some of the liberal voices are now raised complaining that Obama isn't fast enough to turn over the hell of the last 8 years. It makes me cross reading the stuff. 10 months to improve on 8 years and he's not fast enough? Where were they in the last 8 years? How quickly some forget.

No, actually. They don't. The people who oppose health reform see others as either profit opportunities or stepping stones, never as actual people who could DIE from their selfishness and greed. They see their own wealth and power as entitlements supposedly guaranteed by the Constitution (neither of which are, but that doesn't stop them), and they really don't care how many people live miserable lives and/or die miserable deaths, so long as they get to keep what they believe is theirs. That's what happens in a capitalist society - all that matters is money. People are expendable.
