I was just watching my DVD of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, a show that I've loved since I was a little girl and waited for it to be shown once a year on television.

I just rented the DVD of the original Julie Andrews production which was televised once in 1957 and then never shown again. I didn't like it! The songs were all the same, and the performances were fine, but the script was very different. Some rather ungainly humor, and the whole thing wasn't nearly as elegant as the 1960's version starring Lesley Ann Warren.
