...how come nobody told me there's a Special Edition of Deep Impact?

On making my monthly Amoeba run today, I discovered one of these and promptly bought. $9.99, such a deal! I look forward to curling up with the commentary and hearing what is sure to be some happy squee from the director about Elijah. (I feel safe in anticipating it because every damn director he's ever worked with squees about him.)

Also bought The Purple Rose of Cairo and My Favorite Year (with commentary) while I was there, and received my Special Edition DVD of Jesus Christ Superstar (1975) in the mail today. Yay for Half.com! Love that site.

So, much fuzzy warm movieage in store this rainy afternoon. Got a temp work gig starting Monday, and had a job interview this week which seemed to go well (light a candle for me, everybody!). Life is good.

Nope. Leder said very little about the actors. She and the FX guy who did the commentary with her were all about the CGI and the locations. Not a great commentary at all. Their focus was very narrow, which I find dull in a commentary. The really good commentaries range all over the map as far as what they talk about, while still remaining focused on the subject at hand. These two were very much into the whole lookylooky of the FX and missed oppportunities to talk about a lot of other things. Disappointing, on the whole. >:(
