I thank the gods profusely that I went through my sexual prime during a time when I had the freedom to decide what I wanted to do with my own body and my own blood. Young women today have no fucking idea what they're in for. (The ones that haven't already run into this shit, that is.) It's incredible how people will just forget, and take this kind of right for granted.

In addition to leaving abortion legal, although I wish it were not neccessary to do so, if our society had a working adoption model, maybe some of the abortions would not be needed. This is not a judgement OR condemnation by me, I just wish there even more realistic options for unwanted children. Anyone who thinks making abortions illegal will stop them is a fool..I cannot think of one thing that is illegal but does not happen or exist irregardless.

Indeed. And if the extended family hadn't been killed off by idiotic notions of "independence", as if boxing each parental unit off by themselves somehow made life better, instead of cutting off the support and guidance that new mothers need.

I'm not a mom, and as a single woman without children I do get pretty sick of the cultural BABYBABYBABY morass around me, but that doesn't mean I'm selfish enough to realize that this is all a great big mess, and women are pretty caught in a trap no matter what they decide. Come to think of it, the whole situation would probably be bettered as well if girls were not brought up to think that getting pregnant and having kids was the be-all and end-all of female existence. And if the fact that every kid, no matter who or what she is, is gonna want to have sex at some point in their lives, and should be prepared for it. And... And... And...

I could go on for hours, of course. But this country would still keep trashing itself for the sake of a few repressed idiots.

Thank you, honey. I just get so tired of this bullshit. I think I'm gonna do a major overhaul of this LJ over the weekend. Fandom in general is out, idle chitchat out, etc. I'm no longer interested in most of what's held my attention here at LJ for a long time, so it's time for a big change, I think. *sighs exhaustedly*
