When I first saw that pic of Rock, I must admit I was surprised you hadn't given Maula a tattoo like that. It seems very appropriate for him, and would give Frodo yet another bit of culture shock at seeing it unveiled. The idea of taking a needle and ink to one's own flesh would very difficult for a hobbit to understand, to say the least.
