I was totally taken in at first - sounded like something someone would really do. My eyebrows went up at the hammock, but by the end I was howling on the floor. I see it's from Canada - that explains a lot.
Someone really did do it. Several scientists over the years have conducted experiments wherein they fed minute amounts of psychoactive drugs to spiders in order to observe the effects on their web-spinning, withvaryingresults. Since spiders already have a built-in activity that requires precision and delicacy, it makes an ideal candidate for demonstrating the effects that mind-altering substances can have on motor skills and perception. Interesting stuff.
