Okay, this just pisses me off

Florida strawberry farmers are destroying their crops on purpose
Tampa, United States - Low market prices for the fruit have caused farmers to decide it is cheaper to pay farm laborers to destroy the crops rather than ship the fruit to market.
( More, if you can stomach it )

Midnight Media Cafe - The Hell of It
Sunday, March 28th, 2010 08:36 pm.
The Hell of It - Paul Williams
from the film The Phantom of the Paradise
Roll on thunder
shine on lightning
The days are long and
the nights are frightening
Nothing matters anyway
and that's the hell of it
Winter comes
and the winds blow colder
Some grow wiser
You just grew older
You never listened anyway
And that's the hell of it
( Good for nothing, bad in bed... )
I've always been very fond of this song. If you haven't heard it, do give a listen. It's surprisingly cheerful and jaunty despite the morbid lyrics.
And if you haven't seen the film, oh you MUST. It's a classic. Directed by Brian De Palma, it's a mad, witty, sarcastic parody of the music business in the 70's, combining the story of Faust, The Phantom of the Opera and The Picture of Dorian Gray. The forerunner of all those pretentious rock videos of the 80's, it's stuffed with really wonderful music as well as some marvelous performances, not least of which is Gerrit Graham as a shrill drama queen of a heavy metal/glam rocker. POETRY.
