Is anyone around here familiar with Audacity? I'm trying to use it to record music from audiocassettes, and I'm having problems. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Supposedly you can switch the input to line-in on the dropdown box in the middle of the player. But that box is greyed out, and I can't get it to change, so I can't choose the input mode. Anybody familiar with this problem?

Have you checked in your control panel for sound to make sure the line-in (or sometimes "microphone") is activated?

I'm not familiar with the program, but I've used similar stuff and run into that problem. Usually works once the control panel is set right.

Yeah, I did. There's a lot of things this computer is messed up on. What I actually need is a new computer; this one is too old.

My next recommendation would be to update the driver on for your sound card. Barring that, I'm useless to you. *le sigh*
