Okay, so who knows about customizing LJ styles? I haven't the vaguest fucking idea how to do this. Anybody know and willing to toss out some advice and/or links?

Seriously, I hate this fucking theme, and I can't find anything much better. Are there others I don't know about?

It's already killing any impulse I have to write. That plain black page was a huge deal for me. Now wrangling with these UGLY FUCKING PAGES that do nothing for me is pissing me off and depressing me.

I'm messing around with some icons, and I'd like to take one image and make it semi-transparent so I can lay it over another image and get a double-image effect. Anybody know how to do that? I'm using PS7.

Is anybody else having trouble with the YouTube Player? Ever since last night, any time I look at a YouTube video, I find all the controls are lumped together on the left side and none of them are functional.

Has anyone else seen this? It's driving me nuts!

I have a question about Firefox. I'd like to know how to get back a session I was just working on.

Here's the problem. I had a program installed that wasn't working for me. So I went through the uninstall process. That went fine, but without my know it would happen, the program CLOSED Firefox after it uninstalled. Then it automatically re-opened Firefox to its home page. I had NO IDEA it would do this. So now the session I had going is GONE, with all the tabs and windows I was using. All the stuff I was reading, working on - GONE.

Is there some way of getting all that back? This is one of the biggest problems with Tabs Plus - that it only gives you the option of re-opening the "last" two sessions you were on. But it DOESN'T count your last session if you had re-opened it. So the two options I have are that one tab that was opened by the departing program, or the session from DECEMBER 24. That's because since then, I've just been re-opening FF to its last memory, so NONE of those sessions - from Dec. 24 until today, have been counted as actual sessions.

This is an ENORMOUS bug in Tabs Plus, and it PISSES ME OFF. This is NOT the first time this has happened - Adobe Flash updates do the same thing, but I've learned to save my session before doing an update with them, because I've lost lots of info before. This time, I didn't know it would happen, so I've lost all the stuff I was working on.

Anybody have any ideas how to get around this FUCKING BULLSHIT with Tabs Plus?

Question time!


I'm putting together a business card design, and I need a little help. I want to include a coat of arms in the design. I've found the pic and bled out the colors to make a simple black-and-white line rendering of the image to insert. However, the card is going to have a colored background, so I need the coat of arms to be on a transparent surface rather than a white one, so that when I place it on the main background image, the contours and colors will show through the line drawing. (So there won't be a big WHITE block in the middle of the color image.) Is this making sense?

How would I do that? How would I remove the white background of the line drawing so that the lines "float" by themselves without ANY other color than the lines? Does anyone know how I would do that?

If anyone knows how to go about this and can explain it clearly, I'd sure appreciate it!

Can anyone tell me how to add an outline to text in Photoshop? Meaning that I want add a caption to a picture and I want the letters in my caption to have contasting outlines. How do I do that?

I have Photoshop C2.

Another question here:

I'd like to send someone a virtual gift on LJ. But when I go to the gift page: http://www.livejournal.com/shop/vgift.bml?cat=all - I see no option for actually BUYING one of them. They're all there, but there doesn't seem to be any button or anything to select a gift.

Now, I've done this before. It's been a while, but I know I didn't have to hunt around to figure it out last time. If I remember correctly, it used to be that you just clicked on the icon for the gift you want and the system would start you through the invoice process. But now the pictures of the gifts are not clickable; they just sit there.

Is there something I'm not seeing on that page? Why isn't this working?

I'm using Firefox and I have a problem.

If I have a window open and I close all the toolbars, how do I get them back again? I've tried right-clicking all over the window, and I can't find anyplace where I can restore the toolbars. If I try clicking at the tabs, I just get the tab options. If I click on the blue bar at the top, I just get restore, minimize and close. How do I access the toolbars again? I can't even copy the tab addresses in order to duplicate the window, because the navigation bar is closed!

Anybody know about this?

Can anyone tell me exactly where the cache is located on Firefox? If I want to look in the temp files and find a particular item, where would I go?
