Each time it seems my disappointment can't get worse, somebody ups the ante. I am not thrilled with being an American at the moment. Not at all.

It's rather embarrassing, isn't it? (You are referring to the Iranian president's visit to Columbia University, no?)

It's extremely embarrassing. We're just so focused on proving to the world that we are exactly who our enemies say we are. I watched the Columbia event online and was just horrified at the rudeness. We seem to have completely abandoned any idea of what diplomacy means at all. That international stereotype of the Ugly American isn't much of a stereotype anymore.

I can't believe how many times over the past six years I've had the impulse to shout Where's your MOTHER?
