Well, for me it would have been disastrous, since 3D simply does not work for me. People with less than perfect vision, especially differences in vision between eyes, kinda have trouble with that technology. Since my eyes do not focus on the same point, 3D is a complete waste of time for me. Worse than that, because the image on the screen is blurry and weird because of the effect. If they released The Hobbit in 3D, I'm afraid I'd never be able to see it. (Unless, of course, they had the brains to release the film both with and without it.)
