Thanks to everyone who responded to my post of last night. Your kind words make me feel better about my attempt. It's been so many years since I last drew anything other than a doodle, and the support gives me more confidence.
Personally, I don't like that left eye, and parts of the image are overdrawn because I couldn't get the shape of the face right. I was getting kind of tense about that, thinking it didn't look like Viggo at all, and then a voice in my head said, "Calm down. You're not drawing Viggo anyway!" I said hey, that's right! and then I could relax and keep going, and finally got it to look right.
But considering that it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, a first attempt after a long time, AND it was drawn by the light of a single candle, it's okay. If I draw any others, I'll certainly post them here for you all.
