Off to watch Galaxy Quest, which is one of the BEST. MOVIES. EVER.

Every now and then I have to roll around in that particular film. It's so gorgeously on point, so precise in its parody of all things ST. I can't decide whether I love Alan Rickman's bitter, frustrated Ak-TOR or Tim Allen's egotistic asshole star better. Those aliens are utterly lovable, and the pseudo-Kardassian bad guys FTW.

And does Tony Shalhoub steal the show? You bet your ass, JUST LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES. Hell, he stole his one scene in Looking for Bobby Fischer with just one line.

Everything in this film, from the cast to the sets to the costumes to the makeup to the friggin' THEME SONG is complete perfection.


WHY IS THIS HERE? There's no reason for this to exist!

Amen to all that! I'm a big fan of parody (obviously), and that movie nails it. It was a hugely pleasant surprise, since from the previews way back when, I thought it looked kind of lame.

We use Tony Shalhoub's listless "...That's just FYI" a lot in our household. :D

I need to buy my own copy of that movie. You're so right, Tony Shaloub steals every scene he's ever been in. And Alan Rickman is divine.

I love that movie too, although my copy has gone missing. One of the best parodies, and actually a more interesting storyline than a few TOS episodes.
