Damn. I don't know if we can win without him. Whoever gets the nom, I'll vote for, but...I don't know. We might be kidding ourselves about this. I hope not, but you know, I thought it was inevitable that a Democratic candidate would win in 2004, and look how that turned out.

One of the commentators on CNN noted that John said he was "suspending" his campaign, not "ending" it. Deliberate choice of words, perhaps? I'd love to see him as VP with either Clinton or Obama, if it could be worked out.

I noticed that, too. My ears did prick up a bit at it, and I hope it's more than just a polite choice of words. A VP spot would be great, but didn't he say earlier that he wasn't interested in being VP?

He might have, though I can't recall a specific quote right off the bat. I don't believe he chose that particular word indiscriminately, though.

Yeah, gotta wonder about that. I've seen some people comment that an independent run might be afoot. Frankly, I hope not, as that will just end up throwing the race to the Republicans. It's the same reason I have nothing but ARGH for Ralph Nader.

Oddly enough, rumor has it that Nader is once again considering throwing his hat in the ring for the 2008 election. Wonder how that would pan out?

I read about that, and it made me really angry. The guy keeps shoving his way into races that he doesn't seem to care about. He says he's running but he doesn't campaign, he's the world's least likeable candidate, and he keeps drawing off voters that might actually make a difference. I really wish someone would thrown a bag over him and stuff him in a closet for the next year. He's done nothing but harm as far as I can see.

Mike Gravel is incredibly cool, but there's no way on earth he could ever get the nomination. No matter - if Edwards is off the ticket, I'll vote for Mike. Despite the image painted for him by the media (the "crazy old coot"), he's the guy whose ideas seem sanest to me.

Yep. Although there's a little uncertainty about it, since he said he was "suspending" his campaign rather than ending it. But that might just be semantics, or he may have goofed with the word. He stumbled on a couple of words in his speech. But other than that, he sounded pretty final about it.
