My goodness! Of course, if he promises to be a good boy and not use that slingshot, we must put him in charge. How could we not trust him?
*whew* For about ten minutes there, I was part of a movement. Thank the gods I've recovered my cynicism. Just goes to show, no matter how charming the temptation, you gotta hang onto your skepticism. You never know when it might come in handy.

"'Anyone but Bush'" was the rallying cry in 2004, and look how well that worked out." It's not about Obama being perfect (somewhat liberal would be a fucking start), but about giving people a reason to stick with him. If he keeps drifting over to the right, eventually a lot of people are going to give up in disgust, and the Repugs will be right back where they want to be. Not to mention the fact that these kinds of decisions are, oh I don't know, immoral maybe?
