OH. MY. GODS. He's so balanced and cool. What a fucking refreshing thing to see somebnody so dignified . He might not stand out in a crowd if you didn't know him, but holy shit compared to what we're used to, he's a golden god.
And if you think that isn't a depressing thing to say, think again.
But this is wonderful. He's really facing up to the problems. Clearly, he's got no illusions about what's possible. I just hope the rest of the world hears what he's saying. It ain't gonna be easy.
Also, he's hitting the MLK notes big time. Several references. Certainly not out of place, but I can just hear the whining tomorrow morning from Fox. Heheheh.
Yeah, he uses all the beautiful words and calls upon our American ideals. But you know, I'm so much more likely to believe that coming from a constitutional law professor, than from some feckless cowboy or irate ol' man yelling at the rest of the world to get off his lawn. Oh hell yes.
He's telling an old lady story now. Civil rights history. And he's got more than a bit of the preacher in him - he's got a call-and-response thing going with the crowd. He's good with people, and that's important. But it's a cheap asset. It's the combination of the demeanor with the intelligence, dignity, and humor.
He's signed off now. You know, the best image I can come up with is that of the very cool CEO who takes an ailing company and resets its culture. He's not the one doing the lion's share of the work, but he's the one directing the show, it's his vision, and I think Obama's is a pretty good one.
Okay, I'm rambling. Shall crawl off and sing to my cat.
