The right wing went on and on about how Franken would suck as a senator because he's a comedian, he's not serious, blablabla. Take a look at that video. In this whole health care ruckus, I've rarely seen an elected official speak with such calm and reason on this subject, let alone with the ability to get people to understand and agree with what he's saying. How wonderful is it to see a guy who was so pooh-poohed when he sought his seat turn out to be one of the best and most talented debaters on government policy?

Pretty damn wonderful, if you ask me.

I've read all of his books. He is an incredibly smart, well-informed man. I think he's awesome.

I saw at work the other day a clip where he was on the hearing committee over that case where the female employee was held in a container after she complained of rape. Not only did he grasp what was being said with ease but he cut to the chase so eloquently and made mince meat of those trying to fudge the issue. He refused to accept vague answers because as he said this was a way too important issue for those kinds of behaviours. I was really impressed with him.
