Question

.

Can anyone recommend a good, free defragmenting program? The MS one that comes with XP doesn't seem to work anymore. I ran it on my external drive and ended with at least 1/4 of the drive still fragged and the program insisting it was finished.

Auslogics is great.

Glary Utilities is another good clean-up utility. (and free!!)

Tried that. It did exactly the same thing. It also showed me how much it had left undone: 89 files, for a total of 22% of the space used on the drive. It won't defrag any more than that.

I have no idea why this is happening, but I can't get the drive cleaned up. I've tried four separate programs - none of them will do it.

Hmm. What a pain! There's also a utility called 'Tweak All' that helped me clear some space. Good luck!
