Okay, so is anyone else sick to death of the pseudo-word "veggie"? What is with this propensity for adults to talk like little kids? "Baby-daddy" is another one that makes me ill. "Mommy" is yet another, when used by anyone except children. Why does American culture enshrine the infantilization of language these days? What in the world could possibly be desirable about this??

Fucking HELL, I just want to slap the shit out of people sometimes.

I wonder if this is a regional thing? Australians abbreviate any word they possibly can, so I'm very used to 'veggie'. It's also common in the vegetarian community -people will say 'veggie sausages', for example, to distinguish them from meat sausages. Maybe it's less common where you are and so it stands out?

I do sympathise as we all have words that drive us into a frothing frenzy of rage. 'Guesstimate' and 'irregardless' are at the top of my list.
