OWWW!!!

Okay, so I'm lying here in bed with both my calves packed in ice. One pack on the front of my right leg, and the other wrapped around the left just above the ankle.

I had locked myself out of the house, and gone out back behind the house to look for the big ladder to let myself in through a window. On coming back into the yard, I was opening the little gate that leads into the passageway between the two back houses (I live in one of them), and in trying to get the gate open, slammed my right leg up against the very sharp-edged brick planter that is right up against the little wooden gate. That made me fall down, naturally, thus slamming my left calf against the very sharp-edged concrete step under said gate.

This place is not laid out in the most logical or convenient manner. It's designed with an eye towards aesthetics, but not ease of maneuvering.

Did I mention that in falling, I slammed both my palms against the brick-and-rough-mortar flooring of the passageway? So my hands hurt, too.

I couldn't get into the house for about ten minutes, so I'm not sure if the ice is gonna work fully. If it doesn't, the bruising will be fairly spectacular. No long walks for me for a few days, I guess.

*sigh*

It hurts.

I'm a klutz; anything that even remotely protrudes and I'm either running into it or tripping over it. I don't think I'd survive where you're describing.

Thank you, hon. I'm clutzy, too, at least with my legs and feet. I usually have a bruise or two on my legs from running into things, and I can't count how many times I've mashed my toes. But this is monumental even for me. For a moment, as I lay on the ground, I thought I might have done some actual damage. But I was lucky. *pout*

Thank you, Ruby! It's a bit better now - gone down to a dull roar. And it looks like it might not bruise all that badly. Will have to see how it looks tomorrow morning. Boy, a little time goes by, and you end up feeling so dumb, dontcha? How could I fall like that in a spot I'm so familiar with? Sheesh.
