Do you have ants? Here's how to deal with the little buggers:

Spray bottle. 1 tablespoon of dish soap. Fill with water. Shake it up. Spray the bastards.

BEST. ANTSPRAY. EVER.

Seriously. Kills them dead, leaves no poisonous residue, easy to clean up, smells nice. What more could you ask for?

To keep them out: find out where they're coming in and stuff one of those dryer sheets into the hole. You know, those tear-off things you toss in the dryer to get your clothes...well, smelling like cheap perfume is my opinion, but anyway. Ants HATE the stuff those sheets are soaked with.

Or you get some peppermint oil and a little brush and paint the oil around the spot where they come in. They hate that, too.

Just a few tips to make your day easier. :)

I wonder if the spray would work on flies.

I don't know. I do know that a lot of anti-bug recipes from before the advent of petroleum included soap. Tobacco growers used to pour a mixture of hot pepper and soap in onto the ground around the plants to discourage hornworms. So it might. No harm in trying!

I'll have to remember these tips for summer when I will get the Ants of Mordor back in here.

Normally I don't care about ants so long as they stay out of my food. But this year I started growing vegetables and herbs in my garden and now we are at serious war.

Your advice is so timely! I have been invaded by sweet ants - crossing the kitchen like Hannibal crossed the alps to get to my cats' food!

I've been worried about the garden spider who has a hideout in my windowsill, though. Generation after generation of them had made that a special place. Hope s/he escapes the soap!

I use an ecological and very effective metod to avoid ants: talum powder. More scented the baby talc is more ant repelling it is.

In spring usually my house is under ant attack from the garden. I look for the ant enter poin then I sprinkle talcum here and in the near corners of the room. In 30 minutes the ants are gone but I leave the talc for one week to be sure.
The ants follow the track smell of their mate; if you cover the track with something more scented they are lost and withdraw.

The metod is unexpensive and with a positive side effect, your room will be talc scented. :) But be carefull to put it only in the corners because talc is slippery.

Try it and let me know.
