My new roommate
Wednesday, November 17th, 2004 09:48 pmSo life has been looking a lot less dreary and depressing over the last month. I haven't had any crashing lows, crying jags or suicidal feelings. I even had a period without wanting to stick my head in the oven! This is a Pretty Good Thing, and I attibute it to my new roommate moving in.

Casey came to me via my sister-in-law, Marie, who knew I was thinking about getting a new cat. (My Nebula died of old age a couple of years ago, and I'd been pretty lonely ever since.)

So when a coworker of hers told her about this sweet kitten who'd been abandoned by her neigbors, Marie went over to check her out. She then called me and told me about the cat: a pretty, grey-and-white shorthair with a sweet, affectionate disposition.

The amazing thing was that I'd been specifically thinking about getting a small grey female myself! So I went over to meet her, and instantly knew she was mine. She came right up to me and seemed to like me right away.

She moved in that day, and proceeded to amuse me with her antics (which I haven't yet caught with the camera, but I haven't given up!)

She really is an awfully nice cat, and I feel very lucky to have her. It's been hard not to have a companion around the house. I really had no idea how much the lack of a cat had influenced my outlook until Casey came to live with me. And yes, she is named after Our Casey!

She helps me see things in a more positive light. How can you not view the world more brightly when you're hanging out with someone who considers a plastic strip tied to a ribbon the most engrossing thing she's ever seen?
So, I'm much happier now. :)

Loved your pics too. What a sweetie!
