Many thanks to all of you who sent me congratulations and good wishes on the birth of my new nephew. :)

I hope the New Year brings all of you everything good and wonderful. You're such a lovely bunch of folks, and I'm happy to know you.

Here's a little something you might enjoy. It's not much, just a little snippet that might be taken up into a story some time. But I like it, and I hope you will, too.



Sam stood in the snow, buried 'neath an avalanche of memories and might-have-beens. Across the years he watched his master, red-cheeked in the frosty air, turn and call to him. The bright sun dazzled his eyes, yet he could see clearly the air puffing from Frodo's mouth, and remember as if it were now the sound of that laugh, and taste the kiss that waited for him - cool, bright and watery.
