Okay, so who knows about customizing LJ styles? I haven't the vaguest fucking idea how to do this. Anybody know and willing to toss out some advice and/or links?

Seriously, I hate this fucking theme, and I can't find anything much better. Are there others I don't know about?

FUCK. I HATE BEING FORCED INTO THINGS LIKE THIS.

It's already killing any impulse I have to write. That plain black page was a huge deal for me. Now wrangling with these UGLY FUCKING PAGES that do nothing for me is pissing me off and depressing me.

You guys have really nice pages. Where the FUCK can I get stuff like that? Because the stuff I'm seeing is utter, utter shit.

The person I know at LJ who knows the most about layouts is sireesanwar. She even has a layout community. I don't understand why you can't find a layout you like from the ones LJ offers. They have some nice ones. I chose one of the basic layouts and add different photos from time to time. It wasn't difficult. I can understand why you want to change. Where did you get the layout you have now?

It's a simple thing to change your layout. I've had The Boxer forever, though that's only available with a paid account, but there are many different styles you can customize to your liking.

The first thing you have to do is go to the Select Journal Style page: http://www.livejournal.com/customize. From there you can view all available layouts and choose one you like. There's a little preview button on the top right corner of each layout that when you click on it, it allows you to see how your journal will look in that particular style. If it's customizable, you can change colors, add photos, etc. Certain styles can't be changed, so if you want to make it your own, I'd suggest choosing one that allows you to tinker.
