That's so strange looking. I thought Mercury was probably molten, being so close to the sun.

One might think so, but no. It's dry as a bone, dusty and hard. It's also sun-locked, if I remember correctly - always the same face turned to Sol. Which means its sunside is unbearably hot, and its dark side is beyond cold. Not what most people would expect at all. Ain't space grand?
