So two odd things happened to me.
Yesterday I decided very early to go to my local market to pick up a few things. As I was closing the gate behind me, Frodo showed up meowling. He often does this when I go out for a walk. He'll appear between the iron slats of the fence, asking for a rub. I'll rub him a bit and then take off. But this time, he yelled REALLY LOUD, and after I finished rubbing him and turned to leave, he did it again, and then a third time. And when I tried to leave then, he actually jumped through the fence, ran ahead of me and flopped down on the ground in front of my feet. I thought he wanted more petting, so I gave him some, and since I don't want him out on the street, I then picked him up and pushed him back through the fence into our property. Guess what? He did the same thing again - jumped through the fence and flopped down in front of me.
Understand - Frodo never does anything like this. He'll ask for a little attention and that's it. What he was doing here was truly bizarre. And he wouldn't let up. It finally dawned on me that, for whatever reason, he really really didn't want me to go out. This was unusual enough that I decided not to go, and went back in and stayed at home all day. I'm not superstitious, but when an animal who knows me tells me over and over "NO don't do that!" I tend to listen. They often know things we don't.
Still weirded me out, though.
So today I did go to the market, finally. Was buying some staples - bananas, flour, butter, some tomatoes, that sort of thing. I got to the register and found I was about $5 short. I was trying to figure out what I could leave when the woman who was next in line said to the cashier, "Put it on my credit card. I'll pay for it." I couldn't believe it. What a generous thing to do! It came out to about $25, but when I tried to protest, she just waved it off. "Don't worry about it, really. You just go on and have a blessed day," she said with a smile. It was such a nice thing to do for a stranger. I was truly floored.
