I feel so sick right now I can't even *curls inward* I slept late today, and mom's not had the tv on, and I'm really just finding out about this and trying to process it and
Sorry if I sounded harsh, but I've been seeing all kinds of weasel-wording around this thing, and I am just so sick of it. It's time to do something about this.
I'm just choked with rage. Been over at Wonkette today, where I've been posting a lot recently. It's great to have a place to let off steam with a multitude of like-minded folks.
If all those children killed at Newtown didn't result in meaningful gun control reform, I'm not optimistic that anything will. But I will continue to lend my voice, my money and my vote where I can.
I keep asking people why any individual *needs* to own, or should be allowed to own, any weapon that can kill dozens of people in a matter of seconds. I mean, we can't legally buy or make bombs precisely because that's all they do, so why are guns that do the same thing still legal? And gosh, guess what, NO ONE has had a good answer for that. It's all, "Because--second amendment!" and "Guns are safe in the hands of responsible owners!" and "Protecting myself!"
Yeah, no. Come on.
Obviously there's the mental health component too. And the religious bigotry component. But this is getting fucking ridiculous, pretending like toxic gun culture isn't a humongous component too.
Aussie comic who scores point after point after point and is hilarious doing it. You will find a wealth of great comebacks for all that idiocy. He pinpoints exactly where the flaws are and how to bat them back with ease. You'll love it.
It's a horrible tragedy that could have been prevented if only … But looking from afar, I feel like, sorry, America as such isn't able to learn. I don't understand these gun politics, but they're one major reason for me never wanting to live there. Not even if I were paid. The States don't feel save at all to me.

I'm hoping the country is waking up to this, though I'm jaded enough to think it'll take way too long. Meanwhile I'll print this in color and find a way to wear it around tomorrow: http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/love-wins-lgbt-heart-illustration-colors-hashtag-55940101.jpg
Sad sad sad. And furious. And sad again.
