Okay, I'm FINALLY home. Frodo is at the vet's, and will be there until Saturday. It was as I thought, and they'll be catheterizing him and trying to clean him out. I'm worried about whether it's just crystallization, which can be cleaned, or stones, which will require surgery. That would be more expensive, argh, and I don't want to drain anyone's finances with this. absynthe77 was incredible kind, telling me to put it all on his credit card and we would deal with the money later. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm always bowled over by how wonderful people can be, people you don't know and have never met. (Or even heard of - I don't think you've ever commented on my LJ before!) HUGE HUGS.

I'm gonna PM all of you that offered help so we can co-ordinate. So many thanks and THAT OFFER OF COOKIES IS TOTALLY OPEN. Seriously, you will love my treats. :)

UPDATE THE THIRD: Just spoke to the vet's office. Frodo's okay, they've got him catheterized, and will be in touch tomorrow to let me know how he's doing. They don't have an answer about whether he has stones that would need surgery, but it looks like he's okay for now. CRYING FROM RELIEF GUYS.

omg, I'm so happy for you!!

I don't know if you remember my story with Helo a year ago from this past May...Same exact thing. I was absolutely terrified at the time because he was in so much pain, but once they stabilized him at the vet, he was eating and acting perfectly normal again!

Here he was even at the vet during his stay walking around and purring when I came to visit him.

His did end up being little stones and he did have to have surgery. But the expense was handle-able. I'm so glad that absynthe77 has it covered on his credit card and we can work out what we can do with the expense. I really hope he doesn't need surgery! But like I said, once he's stabilized and they get his urine going again, he should be okay! The danger is him being completely blocked.

Yes, I do remember that! I was so glad when he came through it okay. :)

I was so stressed and nearly hysterical for hours, that it wasn't until I was about to LEAVE the vet's office that I realized I hadn't eaten a thing all day! The receptionist was very sweet and offered me a donut she had in the break room, which got me home without fainting in the heat. I know I say it a lot, but people are so kind! (I was raised by a dad who doesn't trust anyone and taught us to think the same way, so this is something that keeps surprising me.)

Now I can relax and go over to Wonkette to snark and go troll-hunting. That always helps me relax, LOL.

OMG, what a relief. I can only imagine how horrible this day was for both of you. I'm running out the door and will be gone for the evening, but will read your PM and respond in the morning. Just saw this: I'm glad Frodo is feeling better and that you got him there in time. Riker had an overnight stay at the vet's last year and it took me months to pay it off. I can contribute some - paypal is probably best for me.
