OK, as promised, here are some hot and slashy pics of David Duchovny and Billy Wirth. These are screencaps from the two-hour pilot of Red Show Diaries. That show was a lot of fun, if a bit tamer than the producers liked to boast, and the pilot gave us the setup for the series framework (Duchovny receives letters from women detailing their sexual adventures).
So here you go. There are a lot of pics behind the cut, and you're welcome to take whatever you like and use it (credit would be nice). Some of these shots were very fast-moving so I picked the best I could get for you. Have fun!
Here's a taste for you all:

Ya gotta love Zalman King. In his insistence on presenting everyone in his Hot Fantasy movies in as gorgeous a light as possible, he creates some great unintentional slash. Or maybe it is intentional. Probably it is. Since the series was produced about ten years ago, there wasn't anything really openly gay going on even on the pay channels. (RSD was on Showtime.) So in a series devoted to providing women with Excellent Food For Thought, you would have to cloak Hot Guys Fucking (which King is clearly smart enough to understand as a turnon for a lot of women) in the guise of other physical activities, thus getting past the guys at Standards and Practices (and getting straight actors to do it in the first place - some of them can be a bit skittish about that sort of thing). In this case, the situation is a basketball game that devolves into a fight. Lots of chesty pushing around, grabbing and throwing, but no punches or really harmful violence. 'Cause you know, it's supposed to be sexy. And it is. Oh yeah.
I would recommend this film as a piece of Sex Fluff. The story is quite angsty in a tragic romance kinda way, thus giving the sex a lot of undercurrents of sekrit hotness and guilt, a Classic Romance Combo. Basically Duchovny plays Jake the Prince and Wirth plays Tom the Ploughman, and Brigitte Bako (who looks all of 14 to my eyes, not my type at all) plays the Alex, the Lady caught between them. Practically troubadourial story, actually. It's all photographed in this very smooth, luxurious, sensual style. All the locations are beautiful, all the clothes are perfectly fitted. The skin is smooth and the features are attractive. The lighting and camera work constantly play with the actors, bringing out the lushest and most lickable aspects of their faces and bodies. Everyone is fuckable (well, almost everyone; Brenda Vaccaro isn't looking too cute these days). It's quite a feast.
Unfortunately, it's rather a limited one, as I mentioned. Pity King couldn't have cast a wider net for the tales in the show. It's all het sex, with an occasional dash of the kind of thing we see in these pics. But I think the story sets up a very interesting situation for slash, given that it gives these two guys something fundamentally in common, and sets up the possibility of a continuing connection between them. Even though the end of the film seems to say that's it, they never see each other again, there really isn't anything that definiately states it. Hmm...

It's been awhile (OK, more than awhile, more like four decades, give or take) but I rather vividly remember a nude wrestling scene in front of a fireplace, and both Alan Bates and Oliver Reed were mighty easy on the eyes back then. 0.0
Just thought I'd mention it. As you were.

Oh my. I used to sneakily watch that show when I was 15 and my parents were asleep. I wish I'd seen this....

This is the only slashy bit in the film, but there's plenty of other stuff that showcases how fine these guys are.

Date: Sunday, August 28th, 2005 07:27 pm (UTC)Which plays into the romance, of course. Bako is Tragically Sensitive and A Wounded Soul. Duchovny offers her Peace and Stability and Unconditional Love, which she naturally distrusts in her heart, because of her Sorrowful Past. So she goes out and finds herself a Rough And Ready Man to Entice Her Wild Side. It's all so completely classic!
But yes, there is quite a lot of anger going on. However, as with the cloaking-the-gay-sex issue, the anger has to be the right kind. This series was made specifically to appeal to women, and you can only go so far with things like anger and stay enjoyably sexy. So these guys are really, really mad, but they don't do all of the things you'd expect guys in this situation to do. I'd expect Wirth to pound Duchovny's head in, given the kind of guy he is. But that wouldn't be any fun to watch, so it doesn't happen. It's all about the yummy in this series; only so much bitter as will add a nice tang.
Wow, sorry about that. *rant off*

Date: Sunday, August 28th, 2005 02:59 pm (UTC)What a great public service you have performed!
I have to agree that the slash element was probably intentional and far-sightedly intended for the happy screen-capping future, hehe. :)
An interesting suggestion above about other older movies that could bear a good capping. Hmmmm? Any good public service volunteers out there?
