A serious, carefully considered question of a thespian nature

With all these posts about the Iggy film, in which Elijah is supposedly playing The Igster, I got to wondering about something.

I remember Iggy from way back when he was playing CBGB's in NY. Not that I ever saw him live, but I was an avid reader of Creem back in the 70's, and you couldn't open an issue back then without seeing something about Iggy. I remember the pics of him writhing onstage, all half-naked and crazed-looking, grabbing his crotch, etc. He was a wild one, and there were rumors to match. Rumors about him and certain other hot hipsters of the music world at the time. One British rock god in particular. And that sets the wheels spinning, don't it?

We don't know anything about the script yet, of course, but it seems to me that if they're going to do a biopic on Iggy that is in any way honest, they're going to have to deal with the sex. To be honest, it was hardly even treated as rumor back then; pretty much everyone accepted it as a given that Iggy and Bowie were porking each other, and if I remember correctly, neither of them ever bothered to refute it (though I may be wrong about that - I lost touch with rock'n'roll many years ago). Depending on who wrote the script and what their agenda is, we may get some mention and implications, or we may get a face-on portrayal of the shenanigans.

So I'm throwing this question out to you guys: who would you cast as Bowie opposite Elijah as Iggy? Who would look good playing tonsil hockey with Elijah? Cite examples and the reason for your vote, please.

Jaret Leto for Bowie. I must confess I pretty much only thought of him as a pretty boy whom I didn't think was particularly pretty, until I saw him in 'Requim for a dream'. I'm convinced he'd make a hell of a young Bowie.

I kind of blocked the entire movie from my mind; what a load of crap. It's the only movie with Elijah in it that I could have bought but didn't. I was thinking of getting a rental to capture all the Elijah bits now I've finally got the software for that check for Leto. I haven't got a clue how much he was in it. Hm, I'll see if undone27 happens to have caps with him in it. I wouldn't be surprised if Leto was one of the gang that Elijah's character hung out with, so they might even be in the same scene together.

Ah yes. He was rather wonderful in that. (Not that I'd EVER WATCH THAT FILM AGAIN OMFG.) He'd make an interesting Bowie if he could pull off the accent.

Requiem is one of those films that are brilliantly done, amazingly acted, and pretty much make you want to slit your own wrists (which does, in fact, have a "w" at the beginning. My brain is being all freudian on me, trying to omit W's...).

Here's one that's maybe "out there" -- that guy from Green Day -- what's his name? He looks like a young Bowie to me and he has a sort of intensity that I think would work with Elijah.

No one, until Elijah learns to screen-kiss. I love him, but the man cannot kiss onscreen to save his life (not that I've seen anyway!). :D

First thought that pops into my head is Johnny Depp, simply because he can mold himself into ANYONE or ANYTHING. I rather doubt he'd accept the role, but it'd be interesting to watch if he did. :-)

What would be MORE interesting would be to have Bowie play himself, and he's just wacky enough to do it.
