SQUEEEE!!

*jumping up and down with anticipation*

I couldn't tell you just why I'm suddenly so thrilled by this. Over the last few days, since I saw the new trailer at the theatre, I've been on pins and needles. I watched the original the other night, and a copy of the second film is on its way from Netflix.

Really, it was the first trailer that did it for me. I saw it in April, I think, and hearing the music from the original film in it almost made me shriek with delight! (Seriously, I had to cover my mouth.) Honestly, it's all so... Remember seeing the first trailer for LOTR, and realizing that they'd got it right? This is like that for me. After that Nicolas Cage nonsense, I'd totally given up hope that this might not suck.

But thank the gods for Bryan Singer, who is no slouch! Like PJ, he realized No, you can't fuck with this. There can be no sly winks, no campy derision, no nihilist deconstruction. Not with this guy. It's all or nothing. He's either the Man of Steel, superhuman demigod from a distant galaxy, paragon of Honesty and Strength and Just Plain Fairness, or forget it. (Now, Lex Luthor, on the other hand...)

So am I delighted? Yes. Am I impatient? Yes. Am I squealing? Like a stuck pig.

Yes, I am.

P.S. I'd kill for that poster. Well, maybe not kill. But I'd definintely set fire to some great public building.

Oh god, between the poster and the music...

YES.

And they're using the Brando footage! SQUEEEE

Chris Reeve was so utterly, brilliantly perfect in the original. (Shed a little tear watching him again.) I am so glad that Singer went looking for a guy who not only has a similar look, but clearly is playing the same Superman. Happy day! And Kevin looks like he's having WAY too much fun as Luthor.

There's a wonderful little documentary on the site where you can see Singer discussing his ideas about the film. And did you know the original took 19 months to shoot?

Wow, you are right, there is something about that music that just.... well... It looks like he is doing it right! How great! I have a bunch of movies to see this summer -- in the theater, a real rarity for me!

Yay, summer! It looks like this one will actually have some good stuff coming out. So, fun at the movies!

I couldn't've said it better myself.

Heeheehee! I knew you'd be into it too. Isn't it just great? I'm loving the dramatic camera angles I saw in the trailers. It has a sense of mythos about it, which you just have to have with Superman.

Oh squee! I'm not the only one. I'm really looking forward to this... I think Singer/Routh/Spacey have got it nailed. Brandon has slowly grown on me, and the more I see of him, the more I know he IS Superman. Time, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Newsweek.... all glowing reviews so far!

I am really jazzed. First Batman Begins, and now Superman Returns. Really, if you're going to film a comic book, you have to take it seriously, otherwise the result is just stupid. From there, all else proceeds.

Not that I bother with most comic book movies, because in general they suck. Which is why I'm glad this one won't!

Superman has held a revered place in my sister's and my heart forever. My big sis bought the comic books and worshipped Christopher Reeve. Since she was my idol, I followed her. :-)

I am very psyched to see this movie. Looks like it's going to be awesome!

I really can't wait to see this film. Isn't it it great how Superman keeps appealing to people, over and over again? They made the Christopher Reeve films in the 70s and 80s, and there was the tv series in the 90s, and now there's this new film, and people just don't get tired of it. It's wonderful!!

And yes, Bryan Singer! And Kevin Spacey! You really can't go wrong there... ;)
