ETA: OK, I've been over to Rei's journal and read the latest on the brouhaha.

And I can say that I am now officially disgusted with this fandom. I suppose it's a branch of my disgust with this prudish, finger-pointing, dirty-minded culture in general, that can see some kind of twisted sex in a rather sweet image of affection between friends. God, people can be filthy sometimes.

Heehee. And of course there is always the contingent that insists LOTR interspecies is just gussied up child abuse. What is it with people who can't just shrug and turn the page? I just don't see how a picture way the hell over on someone's journal, which no one is obligated to visit, can be so friggin' awful.

I'll say one thing. When they start comparing Frodo kissing Sam with a guy fucking a box turtle, I will have to get down the bullwhip.

Oh, doh! That's from Jon Stewart, who tackled what some nitwit senator said about gay sex being a half-step away from bestiality. If I remember correctly he said, "To sum up: a man and a woman are better than one woman alone, which is better than two men together, which is equivalent to a guy fucking a box turtle!"

I'm glad you like the ficlet. To be honest, I can't imagine seeing anything else in that picture right off the bat. Sure, I know some people might get yucky ideas (at least, I know that now), but I sure didn't.
