Comment over at Crooks & Liars:
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs."

Midnight Media Cafe - The Tell-Tale Heart

Why is a raven like a writing desk? - Lewis Carroll
A late-night frisson to keep you awake in the dark...
The Tell-Tale Heart - Edgar Allan Poe
Narrated by James Mason
Gorgeous 1953 animation, and the narration by Mason is perfect. Poe has always freaked me out more than pretty much any other suspense/terror writer.
