I asked your question in my search engine and got these results: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=how+to+hide+a+background+image+from+a+website&src=IE-SearchBox&Form=IE8SRC
If you tweek the question you might find the right answer... Hope this helps...
If it is here in lj, they have settings to show only in your style which also might help...

I use Adblock Plus - http://adblockplus.org/en/ - it puts a button in my toolbar. If I click on that button, it splits my screen, horizontally. The bottom half now shows EVERYTHING on a page I can block, individually. From there, you can click on the background image and block it.
Better late than never, eh? After you posted this I was plagued with sites I wanted to block the background image on. So I had to find a way to do it. Hehehe. Here's how...
On the page with the offensive background, right click in a neutral spot and choose "View Background Image". That will load the background image into its own tab thus exposing the URL. Copy the URL. Call up AdBlocker. Under the "Filter" menu, select "add Filter". Paste the background image's URL and apply/save whatever they call it ;). Reload the offending web page and voila! This is my new favorite trick!
