In spring, the fancy turns to Faire...

So, this evening Spike and I are off to the Santa Barbara Renaissance Faire. Damn! I haven't worked a faire in fifteen years. It'll be fun, I'm sure. We'll be working at a booth owned by a friend of mine. Not sure what it is he sells - crystals, I think. (Yes, people do still sell crystals!)
So, I've been digging out costume pieces this week, and managed to whip up a combo that Spike could wear. Tying her into one of my bodices was an amusing experience, seeing as how she's about a head taller than me and had never worn one o' them things before. I assured her that yes, she would be able to breathe in it once she got the hang of it. Heehee! Put me in mind of my first bodice experience. If the thing's made right, it really does feel like you've no lungs left. But ah, they are wonderful for keeping you on your feet through a long day of running around in the heat. Come the end of the day, I unlace and my back just collapses - that's when you come to appreciate just how useful they are.
So, I'm gonna go sit in front of my TV this afternoon and sew a couple of snoods for us, so our heads will be modestly covered. Will watch LOTR to get me in the right mood. If anybody wants to chat, I'm keeping my pooter open.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend! I know I will. *grin*
